PEEK ‘Grub’, also known as set screws have many applications due to their high temperature and chemical resistance.

HPP stock grub/set screws that feature a hexagonal drive-type for use with a hex key (sizes are given in the dimensions table above).

An application in which our PEEK grub/set screws have been used is within scientific research. A rotating stage with an aluminium holder designed to house a polished silicon block needed grub/set screws to ensure that the block was pressing against the face of the holder which coincided with the centre of rotation within the rotating stage. PEEK grub screws were enlisted for this application due to their radiation resistance while also maintaining a high tensile strength and not damaging the polished block while clamping.

What are PEEK Grub/Set Screws?

PEEK (polyetheretherketone) is a high performance polymer that is known for its exceptional mechanical strength, chemical resistance, and temperature resistance. A grub screw, also known as a set screw, is a type of fastener with a small cylindrical head and no external drive, designed to be tightened and loosened with a tool such as a hexagonal key or Allen wrench. PEEK grub/set screws are therefore fasteners made of a PEEK polymer, with a small cylindrical head and no external drive.

PEEK grub/set screws may be used in a wide range of applications where high strength and temperature resistance are required, such as in the aerospace, automotive, and chemical processing industries. They may also be used in medical and surgical devices, as well as in consumer electronics and other high-tech applications. PEEK grub/set screws may be used to hold parts in place, such as bearings, gears, and other mechanical components. They may also be used to secure parts together, such as in the assembly of machinery or equipment.
